The History of N

In 2002, a limited mandate for collective support of individual projects brought into clear focus Amsterdam's latest syndicate. In short, the N-collective was an international organization of performers and composers working to blend electronic and acoustic instrumentation and to integrate concepts of modern composition and musical practice with developments in experimental forms. Under the banner of N, until 2007, hundreds of concerts combining aspects of conceptual performance, improvisation, virtuosic instrumentalism, extended technique, and algorithmic composition using electronic and acoustic means were performed. Thousands of hours of music were presented and recorded. Many self organized N-Events showcased these efforts. What follows here is a representative archive of these activities:
